Dealing primarily in European and native oak, we also have stocks of English Ash, Poplar (Tulip), English Walnut, Cedar, Chestnut, and Cherry.
We also stock reclaimed oak and softwood posts and beams, along with bygone / antique agricultural and industrial timbers (gates, cart wheels, beams and fixings etc.) suitable for restoration.
InSitu Designs offers both static and mobile sawmill facilities with the capacity for milling 'through and through' or sectional timber on-site and to your requirements. Primarily operating a Peterson Swing-saw, we can deal with tree butts up to 6'6" in diameter and up to 40' long on site and in confined spaces, eliminating the need to for large extraction equipment.
We have a network of some twenty tree surgeons across the South East who help us source timber. When rare species or unusual trees are being felled we can arrange extraction and milling, utilizing condemned trees and getting it to the persons most likely to make best use of the timber.
Timber is one of the most sustainable building materials available, our framing grade oak is sourced primarily from Northern France where it is farmed and managed responsibly and in a sustainable manner. The renewed interest in the use of timber in the construction industry has stimulated the proper management and re-planting many forest areas.
We are actively involved with the Forestry Commission and Woodland Trust, currently managing our own woodland and aiding others with their felling and re-planting schemes.
