Oak frame buildings

At InSitu Designs we welcome all forms of build projects, ranging from traditional post and beam structures through to more complicated, contemporary structures.

We specialise in oak frame buildings, including oak frame conservatories, oak frame extensions, oak frame garages and oak frame stables. We also build oak porches.

We work primarily with locally and European sourced timber and occasionally exotic hardwoods, all sourced from FSC registered producers.

Working closely with our clients from the design stages through to installation ensures that our clients are integrally involved and ultimately satisfied with their buildings.

We are happy to work with supplied drawings and any architect or engineer currently in place. We will also work from scratch, designing frames that are specific to the needs of both the client and the site, bringing our own recommended specialist architects and engineers to the job.

Our buildings are milled, framed and erected 'off site' in our yard in the Weald of Kent before being transported to site. We saw and grade our own timber, allowing us to get exactly the right section and grade of oak we need. Each frame is then cut and jointed from a lofted plan, dry assembled and draw bored. Once each frame member is finished it is then uniquely marked, ready for delivery to site. During this process we invite our clients to visit us so as to gain an insight and connection to their building.

We are continuously involved with projects ranging from green oak-framed barns through to beautiful timber frame buildings that incorporate large glue-laminated beams spanning vast spaces. Using CAD and innovative craftsmanship we have developed our own ways of creating one-off buildings.
