At InSitu Designs we specialise in traditional oak framing. Proven designers and fabricators of temporary and permanent timber frame buildings. We offer a comprehensive design and fabrication service to ensure your design and site criteria are fulfilled.

We have a small team of knowledgeable and dedicated craftsmen who are involved at every stage of the process, from milling to topping out. We work on every project in a hands-on fashion, one frame at a time, from start to finish.

Our experience of the timber trade ranges from timber harvesting in Canada through to apprenticed joinery. We are genuinely passionate about wood and working with it, from harvesting, milling and grading through to seasoning and finished joinery.

We are devoted to sourcing the most appropriate type and grade of timber for the job. We import most of our framing grade oak from suppliers in France where it is sustainably managed, and we can assure a chain of custody. We also work closely with a network of foresters and tree surgeons across the South East buying native oak and other specialist hardwoods.

We stock most native hardwoods in 'green', 'air dried' or 'kiln dried' states and have the ability to source 15 year + air dried oak beams of most sizes. We also have local blacksmiths we use for bespoke forge work, from strap hinges to tie straps and other bespoke ironmongery.

Our client portfolio includes private clients with listed buildings, brewers and drinks companies, marquee hire companies, and festival production companies.
